As always, Connie, you have taken our club to the next level in connectivity as well as breed advancement. What would we do without you? Probably flop around like fish out of water! hahaha
Thank you for taking the initiative and getting this up and running.
Just a system to show who has posted more. The stars go up with post counts. I set the counts low so people who are active will be 5 star generals. :) I always found it helpful when browsing a forum to see who the frequent posters are.
Webmaster/Secretary/Treasurer - Iowa Blue Chicken Club
Hi all, Brett and I (Candy) are very happy to be first time, proud owners of some of the hand raised Iowa Blue babies by Jake Levi. Jake has decided to concentrate on his Icelandics and downsized his flock by rehoming his Delawares and Iowa Blues. We decided to take his last two Delawares. When we met, one of those birds is distinctly different than the Delaware breed. This little pullet was black with lots of white lace on the feathers and grey slate legs. Brett fell in love with her coloring that and we both fell in love with her personality. She is a talkative, active girl. Her comb grew within a week and she started laying small creamy tan eggs this last Saturday. Her photo is my avatar picture Brett and I went to the Michigan Poultry Fanciers Fowl Fest in Birch Run and met up with another Backyard Chickens member who does not live far. She said, that little black/white girl is not a Delaware. Brett and I wondered about that and looked up the two other breeds and our little Sweetie looked very much like the SP pullets in Kari's flock. I posted a photo of her in the picture gallery for those who have not visited the Backyard Chicken site.
We are picking up the final three IaB's that Jake is rehoming this coming Monday. He has two black bodied Birchen pullets and a white on black splashy cockerel he feels is also an SP. We will take more pictures when we get them. Jake raised these birds with kind and loving hands. They are not skittish at all, but are very curious to get out and RUN. All in good time. I am so happy to be a part of something this important and both of us are looking forward to much help with developing promoting this breed.
